The starting point of this thesis is the city district of Hangda Xincun, located in the 4 million big city of Hangzhou in the wealthy Zhejiang province of Southeastern China. In 2001, Argentina went through a financial breakdown, which turned out to have a major impact on the everyday life of the Argentinians. Many specially young people, lost their confidence with society and in the years following the crise, there was a new blooming popularity in practicing “Tango”. This thesis tries to argue, that the young dancers find and seek autencity, confidence and security in the practice of Tango, and through this, regain some of their confidence in the social world; Fast grund under fødderne(Tango i B.A)

During the period 1976-1983, Argentina as many other SouthAmerican countries, were ruled by an military regime, which were characterized by its stateterrorism. It has left Argentina with deep wounds on the soul, and this thesis deals with how the story of this period of dictatorship is passed on to the new generations.
